#Chase For ACE
Friday, May 7, 2010 @ 7:03 AM

Hi everyone, I know I have not been posting for quite some time now due to my hectic and busy schedule, so I am here to make it up by posting a new post. Today, I shall be discussing about ACE points. ACE points is an initiative by my school, HCI, to promote Independent learning and also let pupils have a heightened interest in the subject.
Personally, I know that many people are complaining that the scheme is resulting in many of us being FORCED to do the ACE assignments, which defeats the purpose of ACE itself. Well, I feel that this initiative is indeed a commendable one, as although we are 'forced' in a way to do ACE, but in any sense, we are still learning something new! Thus I feel that this scheme should not be abolished, and remain running in HCI. However, the school should always take into consideration to comments of the students.
Since many students are complaining that ACE has become like a CHORE to them, and that it should not be in our grades at all, the school should make some alterations to the current system.
For example, teachers can not include ACE into part of our grades, but instead, use it as a BONUS reward system, where interested and 'enthusiastic' students can work hard and do ACE, just for the purpose of satisfying their hunger of knowledge.
Maybe, the school can also reduce the weightage of ACE, from 10 to 8. This is because many students all have busy lives, and imagine them returning home from CCA one day, dog-tired. The student then remembers that he has to do ACE! Thus, the poor soul burned the midnight oil to satisfy the 10 point requirement.
All my suggestions above are just from a perspective of a student, and it may seem illogical, as I have not looked from the perspective of a teacher/ the school. Feel free to leave any comments !
