#Singaporeans- Are we getting out of hand?
Saturday, May 16, 2009 @ 6:56 PM

They say that courtesy goes a long way. They say that we have to give up seats to the elderly. They say that we must observe proper etiquette in public places. But are THEY actually practising it? They is actually no point in preaching what we won't do at all.

You can see easily seats being choped up in public buses, rowdily talking in public places such as theatres and even most recently, using TISSUE PACKETS to chope up seats. Actually, for the latter, I find it quite amusing. Are we Singaporeans really so desperate for a minor thing such as a table that we resort to using tissue paper packets? What will the foreigners think about us. Will they think that Singaporeans have no sense of courtesy, kindness but only have the element of greed, selfishness ? I am really not trying to put Singaproeans down in this post of mine. But I feel that we lack basic courtesy and really, we should try our best to just put kindness and courtesy in our lives!

It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice. ~Anoymous

#Friendship - Goes as easy as it comes
@ 4:17 AM

Friendship. It is the element that keeps all living beings happy, and I am no exception. Actually, friendship is not as easy as it sounds like. It slips away easily, but it comes quite hard. For example, I, like all my other fellow 1996-born friends, have stepped in to a new world, new dimension, of Secondary School Life. At first, friends are hard to make. Maybe its easier to make friends when you were in Primary 1 or 2 because most of us then were simple-minded and were all very sociable. But I guess I have just found out that as we get older, our personalities change. Everyone is different in one way or another, but I am not saying thats wrong, but I feel that that is harder to make friends. Thus friends should be treasured.

However, losing friends is much harder than gaining friends. The pain of losing a companion that has stuck by your side for a couple of years through thick and thin' is much to be treasured. Take my old friend for example. He was from the same primary school as me and sadly, he has migrated to Canada. Canada is a nice place, I know, but the thought of losing one of my best buddies, and he having to make new friends in a totally foreign place is totally disheartening.

Anyways, just remember, treasure your friends like how you treasure others.
