#My Favourite Character In Village by the Sea?
Tuesday, June 16, 2009 @ 5:42 AM

Village By the Sea is a great book. Let me tell you that first. It consists of a great plot and such well-written and developed characters that anyone would not put it down. That's why choosing my favourite character can be kind of hard. But I would have to admit that it is Hari's Father. For those who even know what Village By the sea is about, you guys might be shocked at my answer, or would I say, my favourite character. But why Hari's Father? Bet that's what you guys want to know.

Hari's Father is described by Anita Desai at the start of the story as a very despicable and irresponsible person. But in the end, he turns out to be an awesome father and a great family man. The sudden twist in his character can be all because he cared for his wife, and that's what matters most, caring.

The fact that he showed that he cared for his wife during her sick and ailing days show that although he might look bad on the outside, he is actually nice on the inside. And the best part about him is that he turned over a new leaf and actually became a 360-degrees changed man, not for the worse, but for the better. And that's what I like about him most, his ability to change.

Change is an element that can be fostered just by about anyone, and it is actually the public which plays an important part in some one's change. And yes, the public's role is just to ACCEPT. For example, many people who were ex-convicts were turned down at job interviews just because they had a bad track record. And thus, the yellow ribbon project was introduced. But many employers still are not willing to give these poor people a chance. These people who were cooped up in a cell, thinking about how they could succeed in their lives and thinking," Yes, I must do it right this time, yes I must not make the same mistake again this time. "

Only to find out that their employers would shake their head and say no without even going through the interview. Therefore for change to occur, the public should be willing to accept, and accept they must.

i'm like the ringleader,

i call the shots.

i chose to fight,

i command respect -

-when I put on a show.
